Campus Pride is a Living Learning Community designed to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, and/or queer. Members of the LLC commit to making the community a safe and supportive space, advocating for the LGBTQ+ community on campus, and working to promote social justice and equity for all people.

First & Proud
Neely Hall - East Campus
Students interested in the First & Proud Living Learning Community (LLC) may apply by contacting the individual listed below. Students who are accepted into the LLC will be notified and given access to select a space in the community.
The First & Proud LLC provides an inclusive living environment for undergraduate students who self-identify as first generation students. A first generation student is a student whose parents or legal guardians did not obtain a 4-year bachelor’s degree.
This community will focus on leadership, mentoring, scholarship opportunities, and academic success by providing support and encouragement to help first generation students stay in school and graduate from SIU Carbondale. First-generation students that live in the LLC must participate in the First Saluki Center peer mentoring program. The primary focus of the LLC is to increase visibility around first generation college identity and assist students with navigating university life.
Workshops/Activities incorporated in this LLC include:

- Resume building
- Community/volunteer service
- Career development
- Financial literacy
- Teambuilding activities
- Bowling and movie night
- Craft shop activities
- Self-reflection

The purpose of Men of Color (MOC) is to engage males in their educational experience through student development, critical mentorship, networking opportunity, and civic engagement activities. It is open to all male students from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups.

Mae Smith Hall - East Campus
Eligibility: The ROTC LLC is open to cadets in the Army or Air Force ROTC program.
The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Living Learning Community is designed to support students who are involved or wish to be involved in the ROTC program. This LLC is a community of students interested in gaining a commission as an officer in the US military. The community provides cadets with opportunities to further their self-preparation in the areas of leadership development, professional knowledge, and military proficiency.
This community helps cadets build strong relationships with fellow cadets, mentors, and leaders. Through the LLC, cadets will have access to support networks and mentors within the ROTC program, and they will establish life-long relationships to help them professionally and personally through their military careers.
Cadets will participate in physical training and social opportunities, along with sharing common courses. While living in the ROTC LLC, students will be exposed to traditions, customs, and the culture of each military service. Cadets will also participate in experiential learning such as historical site visits, team-building activities, and networking with alumni.
Participants will have access to on-site advising, a designated meeting room, study groups, and tutoring, as well as, mentoring by upper-class ROTC cadets.
