Eligibility for academic LLCs (those connected to a college, or to the University Honors Program) is based on acceptance into these colleges or programs. If you do not have access to an academic LLC, but believe you should or wish to request an exception, contact the designated faculty/staff member on the page for that specific LLC.

- Students with Life & Physical Science majors can live and learn with other science majors. The LLC is designed to provide students with higher engagement and opportunity. Faculty involvement is provided to enhance your academic success. Many benefits are associated with living in the Life & Physical Science LLC, including getting to know professors and classmates, greater access to educational resources, specialized programs in the residence hall, and developing a sense of belonging to the University community. There are various weekly programs and activities, including visits by key faculty and staff, tutoring opportunities, and participation in the Saluki Science Ambassadors student leadership team, which plans and participates in special programs and events for the College.
- If you are a School of Agricultural Sciences LLC member, your interactions with faculty and staff will start as soon as you arrive on campus. Some of the highlights from previous years include a welcome dinner with the Dean and his staff on early move-in day, dinners hosted by the different departments within the School of Agricultural Sciences, club and organization meetings in Steagall, and social events put on by the Ambassadors.

- This college is where much is expected, but the rewards can be significant. Each department has a long history of award-winning students who later earn accolades in their professional lives. Our diverse faculty provides the opportunity to visualize success with various hands-on learning opportunities with guidance and expertise in bridging the gap between what you learn in a classroom and what you accomplish with numerous experiential opportunities.
- Kellogg Hall is the residence Hall for students with majors in The College of Arts & Media (CAM) Living Learning Community (CAM LLC). It is located on West Campus, only four minutes’ walk from CAM’s home in the Communication Building.
- The CAM-LLC brings together students with similar professional aspirations in the arts and media integrated industry. Faculty, staff, and students coordinate events and activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for residents to connect outside the classroom, building life-long personal and professional connections.
- The specialized programs provided - internships, scholarships, emerging technology, industry developments, special events, guest speakers, and other relevant volunteer and community service opportunities - help make the LLC a place that promotes student well-being and academic success.
- Living in the LLC helps Arts & Media students better connect with extracurricular activities and involvement opportunities within the college.

- Freshmen business students must live on campus in Brown Hall, which houses the College of Business and Analytics LLC. Transfer business students are encouraged to live in Brown as well. Requests for exceptions may be addressed to the College of Business and Analytics. The Living Learning Community (LLC) and the Freshman Interest Group (FIG) are great opportunities for College of Business and Analytics students to get to know other business students and get involved with the college.
- FIG and LLC students interact with faculty and staff from the college more informally and can live with returning business students. Any College of Business and Analytics student will live in the LLC, and freshmen students who want to take their involvement to the next level may also elect to be part of the Freshman Interest Group, or FIG. FIG students have additional opportunities available to them. There are two Freshman Interest Groups, and both are nested within the LLC. If you are selected to be one of the FIG students, you will be part of a group of about 30 first-year students who live together and enroll in three or four of the same classes in the fall semester. The specific FIG classes/sections are exclusively reserved for the FIG students. Additionally, FIG students have weekly lunch meetings where they can discuss pertinent issues with faculty and staff from the college. These luncheons are designed to meet the changing needs of students adapting to their first semester of college and include discussions, special events, guest speakers, career and professional development opportunities, and more!
- Freshmen students with a business major and a completed University Housing contract may be considered for the Freshman Interest Group (FIG) program. Invitations for consideration to participate in the FIG will be emailed directly to students after the college is notified of the completed housing contract, space permitted. Students must respond and notify the college they want to be considered for the FIG. Students will be emailed regarding their acceptance into the FIG. We will continue to accept students for consideration until the program is full. FIG students must register for all FIG classes/sections unless they have previous college credit for that particular course, AP credit, etc.

Sophomore CoECTM students are encouraged to live in the Engineering LLC, but it is not required. Requests for exceptions may be addressed to the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics.
- This community provides the basis for creating a strong peer network among students. The CoECTM LLC creates a supportive environment for students both academically and socially. Students can form study groups, attend standard courses, participate in design and research competitions, and attend college-sponsored events. This early experience provides the confidence and peer networking needed for academic and professional success.
- The CoECTM Living Learning Community is open to all students with majors in the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics, including:

- The College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS), since its inception in 1950 as the Vocational Technical Institute (VTI), has undergone a continuous change to address the workforce needs in the Southern Illinois region, the state, and the nation as well as the University's mission as it evolved from a teachers' college to a major Carnegie I research institution. An essential component of the College's evolution is the increasing expectation for faculty productivity in applied research, scholarship/creative activity, and external grant funding. Throughout these changes, relationships with business and industry have remained strong, and the placement of graduates is high.

- Automotive Technology LLC is available to students majoring in Automotive Technology. Move-in is just the beginning of the connections between the Auto Tech department and the students living in the LLC. Programs are regularly offered on internships, scholarships, new developments, technology in the automotive industry, and more. In addition to these programs, Automotive LLC also has a training room equipped with a workbench, tools, electrical training boards, and various vehicle components such as an engine. This room allows students to study and practice multiple diagnostic procedures. It also helps build a mentoring partnership between students learning a subject and those already passing it. Our learning never stops.
- The Aviation LLC is available to students majoring in Aviation Flight, Management, and Aviation Technologies. The Aviation LLC brings together students with similar professional aspirations in the Aviation industry. Faculty and staff coordinate events and activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for residents to connect outside the classroom. The specialized topics covered are internships, scholarships, emerging technology, industry developments, flight check ride preparation, resume review, interview preparation, career placement, and relevant volunteer and community service opportunities.>
- The School of Health Sciences LLC is open to students with majors in the School of Health Sciences, including Communication Disorders & Sciences, Dental Hygiene, Health Care Management, Mortuary Science and Funeral Services, Nursing, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiologic Sciences and Rehabilitation Services. The Health Sciences LLC brings together students with similar professional aspirations in the health and medical industry. Faculty and staff coordinate events and activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for residents to connect outside the classroom. The specialized topics covered are internships, scholarships, emerging technology, industry developments, clinical rotations, and relevant volunteer and community service opportunities.
- The School of Human Sciences LLC is open to students with majors in the School of Human Sciences, including Exercise Science, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health, Recreation Professions, Social Work, and Sports Administration. The Human Sciences LLC brings together students with similar professional aspirations in the human science industry. Faculty and staff coordinate events and activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for residents to connect outside the classroom. The specialized topics covered are internships, scholarships, emerging technology, industry developments, and relevant volunteer and community service opportunities.
- The School of Justice & Public Safety LLC is open to students with majors in the School of Justice & Public Safety, including Criminology and Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, and Pre-Law. The School of Justice & Public Safety LLC is an interdisciplinary LLC that brings together students with similar academic interests and professional aspirations. Faculty and staff coordinate events and activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for residents to connect outside the classroom. The specialized topics covered are internships, careers, emerging research, professional development, and relevant volunteer and community service opportunities.

Sophomore CoLA students are encouraged to live in the Liberal Arts LLC, but it is not required. Requests for exceptions or roommates from outside CoLA may be addressed to the College of Liberal Arts Recruitment & Retention Coordinator.
- This community reinforces the cohort class model established by the CoLA Freshman Curriculum, creating a Freshman Interest Group (FIG). The FIG helps create peer support networks that contribute to student success and graduation.
- Students will benefit from LLC programming that assist them with their transition to college, study groups, extra assistance based on assignment and exam calendars, and social activities with professors and their peers.

Brown Hall - West Campus

First-year Interest Groups (FIGS):
FIG Eligibility:
Students will be placed in a MATH course based on their Math Placement Test score.
FIG Lunches will take place Wednesdays at 12:00pm in Lentz Dining Hall, so it is recommended that you don’t enroll in a class on that day/time.
LLC Eligibility Exceptions
First consideration for the College of Business and Analytics LLC in Brown Hall is given to business majors. Requests for exceptions should be directed to the College of Business and Analytics. Review of non-business student requests will begin after July 1. Exceptions are also made for those who are eligible to live in the Honors LLC and for student athletes who want to live with their team.

Overview of Program
The University Honors Program (UHP) was established in 1960 to honor the fundamental values of SIUC as a public-access, comprehensive research university. The Honors Program lives by these values, offering students academic and personal growth opportunities to develop and sustain them as future leaders and world citizens. The typical Honors student does not just have a high GPA. Instead, they combine academic excellence with the ambition to make a difference and contribute to their communities.
