On Campus Residency Requirement

All single students under the age of 21, not residing with their parents or legal guardians, with fewer than 26 credit hours earned after high school are required to live in University-owned and operated residence halls. Exemptions to this policy will be administered and established by University Housing.

There are no restrictions for sophomores (26 hours), juniors (56 hours), seniors, students over the age of 21, veterans with at least one year active duty service, or married students. This policy is enforced Fall, Spring, and Summer. Students in violation of this policy will have a hold placed on their future registration and will be required to move into University Housing.

Any students who feel they qualify for an exemption should contact the Supervisor of the Housing Policy at 618-453-2301.

Students should maintain full-time status (12 credit hours) while residing on-campus. Part-time (less than 12 credit hours) students in good academic standing may petition for an exemption to policy. Contact us for more information.

Commuter Students

Students required to live on campus may commute from the permanent home of a parent, court-appointed legal guardian, grandparent, or sibling age 21 or older; provided this home is within 60 miles of campus.

These students are required to have a Student Housing Policy Verification form on file with University Housing prior to the beginning of the semester. Students should complete this form with their parent or court-appointed guardian.
