Our staff work hard to maintain our facilities and to provide a clean, welcoming environment for our residents and their guests. Our housekeeping staff ensures the cleanliness of public areas such as lounges, semi-private bathrooms and dining halls, however, residents are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their rooms and private bathrooms.
Each summer, we perform maintenance and upgrades on many of our facilities. Maintenance can include painting rooms or hallways, upgrading sprinkler systems, replacing sidewalks or landscaping, and more. Even with this focus on providing the best facilities possible, maintenance issues can occur.
Emergency Maintenance Issues
If you have maintenance concerns with your room or floor that require immediate attention, please contact your resident assistant for assistance.
Routine Maintenance Requests
Routine maintenance requests that do not require immediate assistance may be submitted through the University Housing Portal. These online work requests are processed Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Maintenance in rooms is not performed by a time schedule as requested by the residents. Residents do not need to be home for maintenance to be performed, maintenance will leave a yellow note on the door letting the residents know that crafts were in the room and what work was being performed.
Damage Charges
Damage costs may be shared by you and your roommate(s) and/or neighbors. As stated in the Resident Handbook (PDF), when possible, the person or persons responsible for causing the damage will be assessed repair and/or replacement charges. Damages can be assessed by room, floor or building. Prices are subject to change, therefore we reserve the right to charge accordingly.
Damage should be reported to your Resident Assistant (RA). If you cause damage, please report this to your RA so that others are not unfairly charged. While RAs report damage, they do not control the time required to complete repairs, the final amount of the assessment, or issue a billing to your student account. This is handled by other staff. Questions may be addressed to your RA, who will then refer you to appropriate parties.
