Eligibility: This community is open to students of any major who are interested in interacting with students from other cultures. Residents can be U.S. students or international students. All that is required is a curiosity about other cultures and a willingness to share your own.

Can’t wait to study abroad? Or maybe you just got back from studying abroad and miss it! Do you want to practice your English with U.S. students interested in life outside the U.S.? Do you enjoy learning phrases in other languages? Want to hear music, watch movies, and try food from all over the world?
In the Global Community, students from the U.S. and countries spanning the globe live and learn together. Faculty and staff from across SIU participate in floor activities, so this is a good opportunity to meet your teachers, advisors, and counselors outside of work. Activities can include:
- International movie nights
- International festival
- Conversation tables
- International coffee hour
- Career panel Q&A
- Salsa night
In addition to learning about different parts of the world, you’ll also gain valuable life and career skills:
- Prepare for the global workplace
- Develop intercultural communication skills
- Gain a global perspective and awareness to contemporary issues
